Cinque Terre

Cinque Terre National Park – Protected marine area
An area in which the sea and the land blend into one to form a unique and evocative landscape. Eighteen kilometres of rocky coast dotted with bays, beaches and deep waters, dominated by a chain of mountains that runs parallel to the coastline. Terraces of vineyards and olive trees penned in by old dry stone walls.

A highly diverse natural heritage. Paths and mule tracks offering breathtaking views. Five towns: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, all facing the sea. An environment where the work of past generations has transformed an inaccessible land into a landscape of extraordinary beauty. A Protected Marine Area and a National Park that protect its uniqueness. This, in short, is the Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.

The Cinque Terre is just a short train ride away and can also be visited as part of a panoramic boat trip.

Portofino

“And then, suddenly, you find yourself in a hidden inlet of olive groves and chestnuts. A little village, Portofino, that arcs around this quiet dock like a crescent of the moon. We slowly pass along the narrow passage that connects this magnificent natural port with the sea and we head towards the amphitheatre of the houses, surrounded by a powerfully green and fresh wood, and everything is reflected in the mirror of the calm waters where a few fishing boats seem to be sleeping”
Guy de Maupassant 1889.

Portofino is the perfect place for shopping, enjoyable walks and trips in the marine reserve.
A tour can also include the towns of San Fruttuoso and Camogli.
You can get to Portofino either as part of a panoramic boat trip or by train to S. Margherita Ligure.
